Diamonds Are A Bedbug’s Best Friend

There is this Commercial I keep seeing on Television for some Jewelry Store Type Place. In it, A Woman is Sound Asleep. While Dozing, The Man Sleeping Next To Her slips a Three-Diamond Necklace around her neck. And then She Wakes Up and Discovers The Necklace. She Smiles and Kisses The Man in Gratitude.

Every time I see This Ad, I get Really Worried about The Diamond Necklace. I mean, how does The Man know The Woman will Suddenly Awaken? That Necklace looks Delicate! If it was me, I would probably Sleep Through The Entire Thing. Then, in the middle of the night, I would Roll Over and The Necklace would get lost in My Bed Linens and then the next day I would Inadvertently end up Throwing It In The Laundry with My Sheets because it was Sheet Washing Day, never realizing I Had Been Given An Expensive, Delicate Three-Diamond Necklace in My Sleep The Prior Evening.

But, also, I find it curious that The Woman automatically Thanks The Man In Bed With Her for The Gift, since I would have at first assumed it was from The Tooth Fairy.

I'm not sure what company does that ad, but women and men have different reactions to similar-type commercials. Girls coo: "Ooh, diamonds!" and guys are just disappointed: "There ain't nothing to guzzle. What's this got to do with De Beers?"

I've seen that ad and wondered along the same lines. It's just wrong.

Besides, the necklace isn't even very pretty.

I would think the immediate reaction of most people to feeling someone's hand around your neck in the middle of the night would be to instinctively hit the person in the nards.

She knows the necklace is from him because she...uh...earned it last night.
